Back in 2022, our founder Mollie was on maternity leave in a tiny cottage kitchen in Cardiff. Her little boy was just 10 weeks old when she felt that overwhelming creative urge. Between bottles and nap times, she dreamt of creating something meaningful, something that felt like home.

She saw a gap in the world of sentimental gifts and thought that mugs were not as cute as they should be. We drink so much tea and coffee everyday and those 10 minutes of peace should mean something.

Naetive was born inspired by the word native, because everything we make is truly made at home, right here in the UK. It’s a name that feels rooted, real, and a little bit magical just like the pieces we create. Using our play on the word, naetive felt just right, unique enough to know who we are and what we do, it makes us different.

What started with one woman, a baby, and a big dream has grown into a small but mighty team of makers in our cosy Pontypridd studio. Every single mug, bowl, and trinket is handmade with love, shaped, glazed, and finished right here by us.

We didn’t have a rulebook. We learnt through trial and error (and a few very wobbly mugs), lots of late nights, and endless cups of tea. But over time, we perfected the process and built a system that lets you build something truly yours.
